A GOOD crowd is expected to show today at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago when history will be created in the Atlantic Primary Schools Football league.
The boys’ final which gets underway at 1pm will pit Whim Anglican against ten-time champions Bon Accord. This clash represents the first time that two teams from the same district will be competing in the finals.
Whim, who are the Atlantic Primary Schools cricket champions will be looking to secure the double by adding the football title to their trophy shelves. Whim got the finals with an easy 2-0 victory over seven times champions Arima Boys’ RC in Tobago two weeks ago.
Bon Accord who topped the Tobago district will start as favourites for the clash after they crushed Tunapuna Boys’ RC 8-1 in their semi-final match-up.
In the Girls’ Division, Tobago champions Pentecostal Light and Life has won their three games en-route to the final stage of the competition and will start as favourites.
Pentecostal Light and Life demolished St Barb’s Government in the Round of Sixteen before edging St Mary’s Home AC in the quarter-final, before totally outplaying Lower Cumuto Gov’t in the semi-final at the Dwight Yorke Stadium last Wednesday.
They come up against champion of the Caroni Education District Longdenville Government who has been impressive in their turn at the championship. In their last game on Friday they turned back national champion and title holders St Agnes 2-0 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Minister of Sport Anil Roberts will be on hand to hand out the championship trophies to the winners. Also expected to be on hand is Atlantic Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nigel Darlow, Head of Sustainability and Communications Caroline Toni Sirju Ramnarine, Manager Branding and Communications Derek Daniel and Corporate Communications officers Billson Hainsley and Anil Seunath.
Also in attendance will be School Supervisor II (Tobago) - Gerard Franklin, along with Chairman of the National Primary School Footbal League Vincent Graham and chief organiser Kelvin Nancoo.

History will be created today in the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football final in Tobago. What makes this clash historic is the fact that for the first time in the competition, one Education District will have two teams competing in the National final.
When the whistle blows at 1pm for this clash Tobago Schools Bon Accord Government and Whim Anglican will be battling for supremacy. In the girl's final which takes place at 11am, Tobago champions Pentecostal Light and Life meets Longdenville Government.
It is fair to say that Tobago Schools have dominated the 2012 Atlantic Primary School Football League. After the round of sixteen competition up to the final stage, Tobago has three out of four teams still in the competition.
In the boys category, ten times champions Bon Accord Government is set to continue their dominance of the tournament against newcomers Whim Anglican. Bon Accord the Tobago champion has shown that they mean business this season with crushing victories against Vos Gov’t, Manzanilla Gov't and Tunapuna Boy's RC enroute to the finals.
Last season, Bon Accord was beaten in the finals by Santa Flora Gov't but this year they look set to go one better. Bon Accord has a great record in this competition winning ten titles under coach and teacher Kenneth Crooks between 1987 -1999. It has been thirteen years since Bon Accord registered their last lien on the championship trophy.
Whim Anglican, Tobago's runner's up to Bon Accord Gov't, which won their round of sixteen game against La Brea Gov't before defeating San Fernando Boys RC and seven times champions Arima Boy's RC to gain a spot in final round of the competition, will be looking to add the Atlantic football title to their cricket title.
