Eight-times national champions Arima Boys’ RC marched into the Atlantic National Under-15 National Primary Schools Boys final with a 3-1 beating of Mayaro Government at the Arima Velodrome yesterday.
From the first blow of the whistle, the St. George East champions went searching for the opening item but it never came until the 11th minute of play when Tyriq Yorke found the net.
Kareem Trotman made it 2-0 in the 20th minute to ensure the former champions held a two-goal cushion going into the second half.
In the second session, Mayaro pressed forward and were rewarded when Isa Bramble was brought down and he converted from the penalty spot.
However, Trotman would have the last say and with ten minutes remaining, he beat the Mayaro custodian with a well-placed shot to send his team home with a 3-1 victory.
Three Tobago teams will contest the finals, scheduled for Thursday morning at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.
In the Girls Under-15 final, St Andrews Anglican of Tobago will challenge defending champions Moruga RC in the first match of the triple-header beginning at 9.30 a.m.
The second game will see the inaugural winners of the Under-12 category, Tunapuna Boys RC, taking on Whim Anglican, representing the sister isle, at10.15 a.m.
In the final game, Arima Boys’ will meet Montgomery Anglican from Tobago in the Under-15 final which is scheduled for an 11.10 a.m. kick-off. Following the final whistle, the prize distribution ceremony will commence around 12.30 p.m.
