Former German-based professional Evans Wise, now a representative of local players, is convinced that this country possesses talented players who can succeed at the highest level in Europe.
Wise, a member of the 2006 World Cup squad feels that despite T&T’s early exit from the 2014 World Cup campaign, the ingredients are there for this country to climb the football ladder again.
Currently Wise represents current T&T ace midfielder Kelvin Molino and recent Seattle Sounders signing Cordell Cato as well as Ataullah Guerra who was r earlier this year on trial with DC United and Philladelphia Union.
“We’ve got a lot of talented players coming through and even though we’re out of the World Cup, I think there is a crop of guys with a lot of potential. The current Olympic team has all the making of a team that can go really far,” Wise said.
The 38-year-old who played in Germany and the US, spoke of his commitment towards helping players realise their dreams of playing professionally abroad.
“I want those players to do what players like myself and others couldn’t do which is to play at the very highest level like the Champions League and other major competitions,” Wise stated.
“Yes I was fortunate to play in Germany and the MLS and go to a World Cup but I think we have talented players who can do even greater stuff and my aim is to help them achieve that.
“Through my playing days, I’ve got a lot of former teammates and other officials who are now holding positions at some of these clubs and we’re trying to make things happen. That Under 23 team will do it for us even though we didn’t make it further in the World Cup campaign,” Wise added.
