LOCAL football fans will get a chance to relive some of the past glory days when 10 former national stars will be on show at the annual Blackpool Memorial at Aranjuez Savannah, San Juan.

Ex-Defence Force defender Charles “Charlie” Spooner will lead one team while Bobby Sookram, former St Benedict’s and Maple striker will head the other in the match in their honour on Sunday. Kick off time is 4.30 pm.

Listed among the Spooner team are ex-Malvern “cha, cha, cha” star Kelvin “KB” Berassa, the power-kicking ex-Dynamos left winger Vivian Manswell and ex-Luton Town striker Gerry Brown

And among the Sookram team will be ex-national coach, Maple and West Indies starturn Alvin Corneal, Ellis “Beatle” Sadaphal and brothr Vernon “Sam” Sadaphal both of Maple, St Benedict’s superstar Leroy “Dilly” DeLeon and Wilfred “Bound to Score” Cave.

Added to thesewill be several top club stars in Blackpool’s Leslie Joseph, Pat Alexis, Dexter Joseph Stephen Gomez, Emmanuel “Manny” Cipriani and Winfield St Hill.

Apart from Spooner and Sookram, others to be honoured are St Clair McDowall, Errol Julien, Michael Alexis, Gregoire Joseph, Archibald Thompson, John Douglas, Mervyn Christiani, Clarence Soo Ping Chow, Roger Gibbins, Allan Williams, Terrence Demas.
