TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Orlando City midfielder Kevin Molino said the Soca Warriors could get better once they continue doing the right things.

The former San Juan Jabloteh and Ma Pau player was speaking after the Warriors 2-0 win over Honduras in their Concacaf Gold Cup Group B match at the BBVA Compass Stadium, USA on Monday night.

The win ensured the twin island team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament, their first time since 2000. They will face power house Mexico in the final eight of Saturday.

The 23-year-old who got his first start of the tournament scored his team’s second goal in the 66th minute. Captain Kenwyne Jones who had given the Warriors the lead in the 48th minute from the penalty spot, sent Molino through and the midfielder produced a clinical finish side footing the ball past the advancing Honduras custodian despite being under pressure from two defenders.

“It is a tremendous moment for me, it was very important for me, my country, my family and my fans. I’m just delighted with the support and I just want to thank God for the victory and the goal,” said Molino.

The Carenage resident who was born in Arima said he was looking forward for his opportunity to shine for his country. “ I was waiting for this moment to arrive with this new coach. I had to take my time and try to get into the squad and finally I got to play for my fans,” said the Orlando City player.

He said the team has shown a lot of fight and determination and feels they are heading in the right direction.

“I think from here on things could only get better, we just have to keep our feet on the peddle and keep working hard as well as paying keen attention to the instructions from the coaching staff.”
