Lester Peltier’s first half substitution was made as a precautionary measure on the advice of team doctor Terrence Babwah after the player suffered a blow to the head during a collision with a Jamaican player.

The Slovakia-based winger was not intent on leaving the pitch but was understanding afterwards.

Babwah said it was not worth the risk as the player was still dizzy at the moment and the best decision was for him to see out the rest of the match from the sidelines.

However, he did not suffer a major injury and has been cleared to return to his club and take the field again.

“You are always disappointed when you have to be taken off because of an injury and especially one like this because I felt as though I could have gone on. I really wanted to play in front of the home fans and the game was going pretty good,” said Peltier.

“But that’s football  and I think it was a safe call. I’m happy that the team was able to play well and pull off the victory. It was a nice way for us to finish off the year which has been pretty good for us as team. We are showing good signs and I think next year could be another important and hopefully good one for us.”
