Former national player Brent Sancho believes that this next generation of Soca Warriors has a very good chance of winning the Caribbean Cup.

T&T will seek to qualify for the Caribbean showpiece when the semi-finals of the qualifying stage kicks off next month right here in Trinidad.

Sancho, Managing Director of local club Central FC, heaped praises on national coach Stephen Hart who last year guided the “Warriors” to the knockout stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup before the local team bowed out 1-0 to Mexico.

The ex-TT defender also believes that the overseas players will prove key in TT’s campaign.

“I think coach Hart did a good job with the local guys in getting them ready, but the foreign guys would play a huge role in the teams’ success,” he said.

Sancho made it clear though that the task will not be easy as he recognises the standard of football improving significantly in the region.

“You see other Caribbean teams making leaps and bounds but TT have a good squad and I don’t see why they won’t do good,” he declared.

Hart has already announced that Cardiff City striker Kenwyne Jones will captain his squad.

Other notable players expected to be part of the squad are USA-based midfielder Kevin Molino who recently was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the USL as well as Belgium-based Khaleem Hyland.

Sancho explained though that TT are still one of the top ranked countries and would be one of the favourites to win.
