Stern John, no longer in the international limelight for T&T, is set to enter coaching within the next few weeks.
John will be part of a local foot sevens academy that will premiere in the his home community of Trincity.
Children between the ages of six and 16 will benefit from the training while adults will also have the opportunity to learn the seven-a-side version of the game which is growing internationally.
John has also been giving back as he hosted his annual Christmas Party at the Squadron Ground in Trincity, last Saturday. John and friends hosted some 150 children for a four-hour party which saw the youngsters receive gifts in an evening of fun activities and other giveaways.
“It’s something myself and a group of friends that I grew up with and still very close with today do on an annual basis. We started it a couple years ago and it’s a day we always look forward to. We open it up to kids from within the community and also nearby parts who may not always have access to stuff some others may take for granted,” John said.
“All in all, it’s just our little way of treating them and showing them appreciation during the holiday season.”
