Former national footballer Philbert Jones is backing the national team to come good in the World Cup qualification. And this is based on what he has observed leading up to the final match of the semi-final phase which ended in a 4-0 defeat to the United States.

“The progress has been good. We have come a long way at this level under Mr Hart. He is doing a very good job but I think the players need to be more disciplined in their roles and functions. We are seeing how the other teams play and we need to stick to the task. There is a lot of work to be done.

“The key for  us is that there needs to be continuity in everything we do. We are a bit vulnerable defensive wise but attacking we are seeing good football. We need to be focused against teams like Costa Rica and Mexico because they are always at the top of their game in the hex. I think once we are strong defensive wise and we take our chances in attack then we should be good. We were good in the first half against the US. I thought we could have scored first but then we faltered and this is why defensive strength will be the key. All the teams will be looking at us,” Jones said.
