LIKELY England World Cup oponent Ian Cox has played down the effect that Sven-Goran Eriksson's departure after the tournament will have on the team.

The Gillingham defender helped Trinidad and Tobago qualify for the competition for the first time in their history and is a good bet to face England in Nuremburg on June 15.

But he doesn't expect the likes of David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and John Terry to be unduly concerned about Eriksson going.

He said: "I don't think what's happened with Eriksson will effect the players too much. They are world class players who will be playing on the biggest stage of them all at the World Cup, so I don't think they will lack any motivation at all.

"But I have to wait and see if I make the final Trinidad and Tobago squad before I start thinking too much about facing England. It's hard to put to the back of my mind because it's such a big event but if I keep playing well for Gillingham I have every chance of impressing my national manager and making the squad."
