TSTT and Dwight Yorke, the man who led T&T to the World Cup, have teamed in a sponsorship agreement that makes TSTT the official communications provider for the Sydney-based (midfielder / striker). Dwight will also appear in promotions for TSTT’s world-class communications solutions.
“Dwight embodies a lot of what TSTT stands for. His leadership as one of the country’s top sportsmen, combined with a world-class reputation has been a source of inspiration for our company in our aggressive pursuit of remaining Trinidad and Tobago’s leading communications provider,” said Carlos Espinal, CEO at TSTT.
Espinal noted that the TTFF “Footballer of the Year” (2005) was, like TSTT, tried and tested.
“Dwight is the go-to guy when you need effective results. We are thrilled with this agreement because he complements the high caliber of local artistes and sports personalities that work with TSTT and who share our vision for unsurpassed world-class performance.”
Speaking from Australia where he now plays for Sydney FC, Yorke said he is looking forward to a very rewarding relationship with TSTT.
The “Carling Player of the Year” in 1999 says:
“My entire career has been about improving what I bring to my profession, whether it is playing club football or National football for Trinidad and Tobago.”
As the only West Indian with back- to- back to FA Premier League titles to his credit, Yorke says that through football, he has been able to redefine himself time and time again.
“Fans want to see something different and better each time so I can also appreciate TSTT taking similar steps to transform and I am supporting them 100 per cent.”
CEO Espinal did not disclose financial terms of the agreement, but indicated that it was for a period of two years in the first instance because even beyond the 2006 World Cup, TSTT would want to work with Yorke.
“We would like to help create a legacy for Dwight that transcends the football field. People look up to him. They know the tough road he has travelled from simple fields in Tobago to the most renowned stadia around the world.
“We are as committed to him as he is to TSTT because we each know, for ourselves and for the other, that the best is yet to come.”
Yorke scores as Sydney wins
Dwight Yorke opened the scoring for Sydney FC to rocket them into second place with an epic 2-1 win over Adelaide United, in front of a new Hyundai A-League record crowd of 25,557 at Aussie Stadium tonight.
Yorke scored for Sydney three minutes into the second-half with a cleverly taken penalty, before Shengqing Qu responded for Adelaide three minutes later to set up a storming finish.
His team-mate, Alvin Ceccoli, scored one of the goals of the season.
It was Ceccoli, who decided the issue in front of Socceroo assistant coaches Graham Arnold and Johan Neeskens with a 71st minute strike.
Sydney FC continued where it left off from last week in an eventful first half, which saw the home team dominate everywhere on the pitch except the scoreboard.
