Soca Warriors Online meets up with one of Trinidad & Tobago's up and coming footballers.

SWO: Many fans regarded you as one of Trinidad’s most promising youth wing back coming up. How does this make you feel?
SC: It’s encouraging to be considered as one of the better young player in Trinidad. It shows me that I have developed my game quite well over the past couple years and with continued hard work I’ll hopefully be able to develop even further taking my career to higher heights.

SWO: You attended University in the US and played football there. At times things did not go as planned. Now what are your future plans for football?
SC: At this point I would like to continue to develop my game as much as I can. It is important for me to be playing often and at a high level. I have been studying the style and quality of football in leagues across the world and I would like to go to a country that would suite my style of play so I will be able to flourish and also win trophies.

SWO: You have been on the National team in the past and have participated locally in club football in Trinidad and also in Digicel Cup qualifies. With that exposure, how do you favor Trinidad and Tobago chances in the World Cup?
SC: I think we have a good chance of going through to the next round. We have to be realistic and all these teams have more tradition in the world cup than we do, so we are not expected to do too well, so tradition is against us but I think our players are yearning to create our own history. We believe in our playing ability and now with the structure of play brought in by coach Beenhakker I think we will at least be able to provide some quality football, to show that we belong even if the results do not go our way.

SWO: Some expect to see you in the colors of red, white and black once again. How excited are you to see this dream come through.
SC: I am very excited. Playing for your country is something that every football player dreams of doing. I am eager to get back onto the national team again and I want to prove that I belong, help bring results and of course entertain the fans.

SWO: Who do you look up too the most on the current national team and why?
SC: Two players that stand out in my mind would have to be Densill Theobald and Silvio Spann because of there application and work ethic. I also admire Atiba Charles who always has a great attitude, in football you have to be able to take the good with the bad and I think he is quite good at doing that.

SWO: Do you think that they will have an immediate effect on where you play and how you play?
SC: No, not really. I think something like that is entirely down to the coaching staff.

SWO: What are some of your goals and ambition as a national footballer?
SC: Of course I would like to make it to a world cup, but it would be nice to also win the Gold Cup in the USA and perhaps make an appearance in the Confederations Cup. Something that I would have liked to do but that has probably passed by me, is to appear in the Olympics.

SWO: There are many other youth players that look up to you. What advise would you share with them?
SC: Be passionate about what you do, stay focused and don’t let rejection stop you from pursuing your goals, and most off all believe in yourself and stay close to God.

SWO: You left Southern Connecticut State University, which is regarded as a division 2 powerhouse in the United States of America because your heart lies in playing professional. Where would you like to start your professional career and why?"
SC: I think playing in Trinidad would be a good start for me. I’d like to be around the national team picture as much as I can at this point so it’s good for me to be home. I’m confident this is the right step for me.
