Experienced Caledonia AIA midfielder Densill ‘Bleeder’ Theobald has accepted the responsibility to lead Trinidad and Tobago to Digicel Cup glory and says he is under no pressure what so ever in his new found leadership role.

Theobald who represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany is one of the most experienced players in the new look national team for the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup.

Head Coach Wim Rijsbergen will be looking to Theobald to lead his young troops in battle, as the more experienced players were not available for this competition.

The former Falkirk player told ttproleague.com, he is glad to be back in the national team after his period of inactivity, and he says he feels rejuvenated and is looking forward to the challenge of sharing his experience with the younger players.

“I am happy to be back and I am looking to help the guys who are making their debut in this tournament, it’s really amazing to see guys like myself, Jemmot, Glasgow, Fitzpatrick and Scott Sealy will all have to play leading roles in this tournament.”

“There is no pressure on me at all, I am happy to be able to share my experience with the younger guys, having been a junior player under guys like Dwight, Russel and Shaka, its really a privilege now to lead from the front, I don’t see it as pressure but as a great challenge,” said Theobald.

Theobald has been nursing a slight ankle injury, during the last few training sessions, but remains confident he will be fit to take his place on the starting team for Trinidad and Tobago’s opening match against Barbados on January 12, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
