Two of the young players selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago in the friendly international versus Guadeloupe on Saturday 24 March, 2007 were a bit anxious about making their senior team debut.
Speaking to ‘ttproleague.com’ former national U-20 players Keon Daniel and Khaleem Hyland expressed both joy and some degree of anxiety on being selected to the senior national team.
Keon Daniel stated, “I am a bit anxious, but this is something I always knew would happen because I have worked hard and my time has come”. He said, “I hope to get more experience and become a better player and hopefully as I continue working hard I can get a contract outside to better myself”.
He also had this word of advice young players, “Train hard, do the right thing and listen to your coaches and success will come”. The player who plies his trade with local Pro League team United Petrotrin was confident of making an impact on this trip and is hopeful on being selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the CONCACAF Gold Cup later this year.
Khaleem Hyland although anxious told us, “I am expecting to learn from the senior players and get some experience on this trip”. The Jabloteh utility player is also looking forward to this trip to help him make a name for himself in the Pro League this year.
