Joe Public and Trinidad and Tobago defender Anthony Noreiga was back among his national teammates on Thursday.

But not as part of Wim Rijbsgergen’s training party but just back on his feet getting familiar again with the set up and looking on at the training session.

Noreiga was knocked unconscious and suffered a brain contusion in T&T’s June 9 CONCACAF Gold Cup encounter against United States in Los Angeles and has been sidelined since.

He recently returned to the training pitch at Joe Public FC and has been undergoing rehab sessions three times per week with his national team physiotherapist Ashton Mills. National team Doctor Terrence Babwah also monitors the progress of the former US-based professional.

“I have been improving. Since the time I got the knock to now I have been doing a lot now training wise as well as coordination work,” said Noreiga.

“I have been working with my national team doctors and Joe Public physio. I will say maybe by February I will be back to full fitness. I have been taking it step by step.”

“I don’t want to comment too much on the past. I have life and I am thankful for that. It’s all up to my progress now and what God has done for me. I went to Dr Babwah because I wanted to do some coordination work and get another CAT scan. They organized for me to work with Ashton three times a week. It has been slow progress but it’s been good for me at this point,” he added.

The lanky defender recalls nothing of the incident against the Americans.

“I don’t remember anything about the knock. I only saw it once on You Tube. I’m just looking at my progress right now. I haven’t been spoken to about (the incident) but I thank them (team personnel) for what they would have done. Now it’s just a good feeling to be among the guys. I’m trying to work hard, work smart and get myself back out there,” he concluded.
