The name David Atiba Charles may not ring a bell as quickly as the mention of a Dennis Lawrence or Marvin Andrews probably would. But history has recorded the Point Fortin-born as one of the members of this country’s National Team that participated at the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.
“The trans formation from pro footballer to business man started in March of this year.
The drive to get into business was always a passion of mine and I got the opportunity to let that dream unfold after getting injured with my club Rochester Rhinos.I decided that while I'm taking the time to recover I could kill two birds with one stone,” Charles said on the weekend.
But with T&T’s qualification drive for South Africa 2010 very much alive, Charles is eyeing a return to fitness and a possible recall to the “Soca Warriors” set up.
“I haven't forgotten my first love which is football. A lot gym work and therapy along with the daily running of the business venture has occupied my days. Hopefully I will return to the football arena and find my place back on the National team, while setting an example to other players that football life is short and while for aspiring stars drive forward with the motto that football is life, they also have to remember that there is life after football too,” he concluded.
