THE EDITOR: Freetown Foundation wishes to congratulate Mr Silbert “Shay” Seymour on his induction into First Citizens Hall of Fame. Mr Seymour, a dynamic centre forward in the 50s, playing for Colts and Trinidad was a nightmare to defence and a menace to goalkeepers.

He represented Trinidad and Tobago in Britain, Suriname and Jamaica. He holds the distinction of scoring 31 goals in one season and was the second Trinidadian to play professional football in England. The first was Mr Alfred Charles.

Not only was he a footballer, he also excelled in cricket and scored 111 for Siwel against Police and was also the manager of two second division football clubs in England.

The Belmont Community salutes Mr Silbert “Shay” Seymour on his status not only as Hall of Farmer, but a Belmontonian.
