Dwight Yorke will join the cast of stars on Saturday for the West Indies Players Association's (WIPA's) "Balls of Fire" production at the Queen's Park Oval.
Yorke will line-up with long-time friend Brian Lara for the 20/20 cricket match between a Trinidad and Tobago team and a West Indies XI led by Chris Gayle. Yorke is also expected to change gear and suit up with his old Strike Squad teammates to play a WIPA team also led by Gayle. National coach Russell Latapy is also to see action in the football section of an event, the proceeds of which will go to various charities, including the Pearl and Bunty Lara Foundation.
The event is being co-hosted by the LAY (Lara and Yorke) Management Group.

Trinidad and Tobago sports fans are in for a treat tomorrow as some of our own and the region’s greatest sportsmen will take part in “Balls of Fire” event at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.
Local sports stars including Brian Lara, Russell Latapy and Dwight Yorke will join with members of the Clayton Morris-led Strike Squad and a West Indies team for a fun-filled double-header featuring cricket and football.
The event is organised by the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) and the Lay Management Group (LMG). TSTT, continuing its strong commitment to sports in Trinidad and Tobago, is giving its full backing to its endorsees (Lara, Daren Ganga, Dwayne Bravo), acting as a sponsor and giving attendees the chance to win prizes like BlackBerry handsets.
“Balls of Fire is a great example of our sportsmen using their skills, fame and exposure for good cause,” said William Powell, TSTT’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are pleased to take part in an event that promotes both sports and the spirit of giving.” Proceeds from tomorrow’s matches will go to the Pearl and Bunty Lara Foundation, WIPA’s development fund and a combination of other players’ charities.
TSTT has long been the major sponsor of Trinidad and Tobago football, including the 2006 World Cup team, the Soca Warriors and the current national team that beat El Salvador on Wednesday. Besides their endorsement of popular sporting figures, TSTT dedicates considerable resources to the development of sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
Recently, through its TSTT Foundation they sponsored the 2009 Victoria Education District Annual Sports and Athletics Meet and the “Sport for Thought” youth symposium.
Currently they are hosting their annual Sports and Cultural Camp for children. Attendees at Balls of Fire can expect lots of TSTT-related giveaways tomorrow.
