Defence Force striker Devon Jorsling scored a beaver-trick to enhance his chances of national selection under coach Russell Latapy in a 4-0 drubbing of the T&T Olympic team (Under-23s) in a closed door match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, yesterday.
It was the first practice match for the senior players and Latapy, since the latter was re-appointed coach of the team earlier this month.
Among the players in the senior team screening squad for yesterday’s match were former Swansea City defender, Radanfah Abu Bakr who made his senior team debut in a Concacaf World Cup qualifier against Mexico last year, Densill Theobald, Shahdon Winchester, Clyde Leon, Robert Primus, Joevin Jones, Dwayne James, Aklie Edwards, Akeem Adams, Keston Williams, Kern Cupid, Devon Jamerson, Keon Daniel, Keron Cummings, Hughtun Hector and Jan-Michael Williams.
The squad which continues training on Wednesday at Mucurapo was minus the bmobile Joe Public quintet of Trent Noel, Kerry Baptiste, Makan Hislop, Hayden Tinto and goalkeeper Marvin Phillip who left earlier in the day for the Caribbean Football Union Champions League qualifiers which kicks off in St Vincent and the Grenadines tonight.
The Zoran Vranes-coached Under-23 squad which comprises most of the players who were part of the Under-20 squad at last year’s Fifa Under-20 World Cup Finals in Egypt were using the match as part of their build-up to a friendly clash with Grenada next Friday in Grenada.
They will next play Digicel Pro League club team, Clico San Juan Jabloteh on Tuesday before leaving for Grenada on Thursday.
