Joe Public striker Kerry Baptiste is likely to jet off to American MLS club Toronto FC next month following the end of the Caribbean Club Championship final round which runs from May 5-9.
Baptiste is being eyed by the Canadian club which campaigns in the MLS and says he is looking forward to impressing during his one-week visit which could land him a deal. Baptiste has also been invited for a second visit to English club Ipswich Town to be part of their preseason campaign.
“Yes I have been invited to go up to Toronto. They have expressed interest in having me train at the club and possibly they can offer me a deal but everything will happen after the CFU club championship because right now Joe Public is my first preference.
"At the end of the day even though I would like to benefit from playing overseas, Joe Public is responsible for where I am right now and I played some of the best football of my career as a member of the Joe Public club and if it means they must benefit from any deal that I sign outside, then I’m happy about that,” Baptiste said.
The national team striker won the 2009 Pro League “Player of the Year” award while lighting up the goalscorers chart with the “Eastern Lions” during their League winning performance last year.
