Jones.Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones has given the thumbs up to German Otto Pfister as coach of the national team and is relishing the prospect of playing under the former Ghana coach as the “Soca Warriors” look ahead to Brazil 2014.

Speaking from England yesterday, Jones said he felt Pfister was the right man to take the team forward. “I think it’s a really good appointment. Pfister has an amazing variety of experience and it will help the country move forward,” Jones said.

Jones added he would have preferred T&T’s World Cup programme to be off the ground already but described Pfister’s appointment as “better late than never.”

“Trinidad has been slipping down the rankings. Our country needs to be back on top of the Caribbean and in the top three in CONCACAF,” added the ex-Sunderland striker. He called for unity among everyone concerned with the World Cup.

“Everyone needs to work together from the administration right down to the players and other partners that may be involved,” Jones added.
