A team comprising mainly ex-national and former professional football players will face off against Moruga XI at the Gran Chemin Recreation Ground, Moruga, from 4 pm today. The game is the brainchild of former Moruga member of parliament, attorney-at-law and author, Peter Taylor.

Taylor said the idea for the game came to him when Peter Baptiste of Penal Rock Road, called and asked for assistance in developing a football team he was creating in the area. “I immediately telephoned Tony Rougier, who readily offered to donate equipment, and so to did former national goalkeeper Clayton Ince after I spoke with him. “So I said to myself instead of just handing over the equipment, lets make an occasion of it and let Moruga see these players on their home soil for the first time.”

Among the players expected to feature are Clayton Ince, Anthony Rougier (captain), Marlon Morris, Ansil Elcock, Arnold Dwarika, Angus Eve, Gary Glasgow, Steve Sealey, Earl Jean, Leslie ‘Tiger’ Fitzpatrick, Clint Marcelle, Trevor Nottingham, Austin Benjamin, Darren Lewis, Ron La Forest, James Saunders, Calvin Hughes, Michael Mc Comie and team some members and supporters from team VFI International. Prior to the feature match, there will be an U-16 clash from 2.30 pm.
