Darryl Roberts maintains aspirations to play abroad and his double versus India last Sunday would have boosted his chances even as he joins DirecTV North East Stars in training ahead of the 2011 T&T Pro League season.

“Definitely I’m happy to have come back and scored two goals in my return to the national team. We were preparing for this game with a lot of hard training and the focus was there. We did pretty well and now the focus is on the upcoming round of the World Cup qualifiers and the next match against Bermuda,” Roberts said.

The former Dutch-based professional scored T&T’s first goal in their 2-0 win over Bermuda in a World Cup qualifier in 2008. His goal proved to be a vital one as T&T need to win by two clear goals to advance after losing the first leg 2-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium.

“Of course I remember that match. But this time I think it will be a different situation. We know that there is no chance of us underestimating them and they will also come here confident of causing another upset. We just have to prepare well and gel as a team and ensure we do what is necessary on the day,” Roberts ended.
