The quartet of Scarborough, Diego Martin Central, St Augustine, and Fyzabad all won to move closer to capturing their respective zonal titles when the BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League Girls Championship Division continued on Sunday.
However, with two matches left to play, Scarborough only needs a point to be certain of being champions while Signal Hill, which edged Mason Hall 1-0 via Asha James’s winner must win its three remaining fixtures and hope Scarborough loses both its encounters. In the North Zone, Diego Martin Central maintained its unbeaten record as well, thanks to a 1-0 defeat of host St Francois Girls to improve to 19 points after seven matches on the six-team table, seven ahead Bishop’s Anstey (PoS), which punished Providence 7-0 while Success/Laventille got its first win, 8-0 against St Joseph Convent (PoS).
Down South, Fyzabad hammered St Joseph Convent (San Fernando) 6-0 for its fifth straight win and maximum 15 points, and needs only a point in its final match against second placed Pt Fortin East (12 points) for the zonal crown.
A win for Pt Fortin East, will see it being crowned champions as it enjoys a healthy goal-difference of plus-39 to Fyzabad’s plus-30. In the East Zone, St Augustine (ten points), stayed in the driver’s seat to lift the title after nearest challenger Bishop’s Anstey (eight points) was held to a 0-0 draw by St George’s College.
