East Zone champions Five Rivers Secondary secured a 2-1 win over North Zone champion, St Joseph’s Convent (Port-of-Spain) in their Secondary Schools Football League Girls “Big Five” semifinal at St Mary’s College Ground, Serpentine Road, St Clair, Sunday (November 3).

For Five Rivers, yet to taste defeat after a perfect 10-0 win-loss zonal league run, national youth player Hackeema Goodridge and Moriah Matthews were both on target to cancel out Bethany Phillips’ item for St Joseph’s Convent.

Five Rivers now await the winner of the other semifinal between Signal Hill Secondary School, the Tobago Zone champion and South Zone winner, Pleasantville Secondary which was postponed from yesterday to a date and venue to be determined.

In the lone quarterfinal match last week, Zyesha Potts got the decisive item to lead Signal Hill Secondary past Central Zone champion Miracle Ministries Pentecostal High School 1-0 at Signal Hill Secondary School Ground, Signal Hill, Tobago.

A new champion will be crowned in this year’s SSFL “Big Five” competition after Scarborough Secondary, the winner of the past two titles, was dethroned as Tobago champion by Signal Hill Secondary.
