Debe High continued their march to another title for the 2010 season when they defeated Senior Division champion, Vessigny Secondary 1-0 in the BGTT Girls InterCol South Zone final at Skinner Park yesterday.

Despite being armed with the talented national U-17 twins, Khadisha and Khadidra Debesette, the game favourites were always in control of the contest. Vessigny upset Championship Division teams, Point Fortin East Secondary (3-0) and Holy Faith Convent (3-2), to earn its berth alongside Debe High.

While the girls of Debe High qualified for their second final this year, as the defending South Zone and InterCol champion looks set to make a clean sweep of all the titles at stake once again this year.

Vessigny was undone by the experience of Debe throughout the match, being edged out by a lone goal from Mariscia Adams midway in the first half. Debe High opponent to contest the Trinidad finals will come from the winner of today’s match-up between North/East InterCol finalists North Zone champion, St Francois Girls’ College and East Zone winner, El Dorado East Secondary.

That match will be played at the Queen’s Royal College Grounds, from 3.30 this afternoon. Over in Tobago, Zone champion, Roxborough Secondary got the better of Scarborough Secondary 2-0. Natalia Benjamin scored both goals for Roxborough to book their place in the National Intercol finals.
