Central FC gives back to Presentation College Chaguanas

Fresh paint from walls to ceiling, shower fittings and the installation of a lavatory were some of the work done on one of the changing rooms at the school thanks to Central Football Club.

And although it falls under the TT Pro League HOPE (Helping Others is a Priority Everyday) Project, the initiative was generally Central FC’s way of giving back to Presentation College.

“It is a facility that we use from time to time,” explained Central FC Managing Director Brent Sancho.

“We have a nice rapport with the school, the principal and the staff and Presentation has been the beginning for Central FC.

“When we first started training, from our first training session when we walked into the school, they were open arms. So we were very much willing to go ahead and do this project and we hope to do it to the other changing room as well, and make it more a facility for sport and to use in the appropriate way.”

In a semi-formal setting the changing room was handed over to Lew Frederick, Sport and Physical Education Teacher at Presentation College Chaguanas, mid-day on Thursday following Central FC’s training session under English coach Graham Rix at the school’s football ground. 

The appreciative Frederick said, “The changing rooms have been in dais need of upgrade for years now and the advent of Central FC coming in to use our facilities, they decided to give us a helping hand to upgrade the facilities here and they have done a good job.

“So we hope that they had a good relationship with us so far and we hope that it continues.”

The TT Pro League club plans to go further according to Sancho, a former Scotland and England based footballer.

He said, “Central FC is hoping to also branch off in the sporting part of Presentation College where the club hopes to assist by sending a couple players (of Central) that are looking at the coaching aspect of their careers, to assist with the development of the Presentation College Football Team.

“It was an initiative that we’ve always wanted to do,” added the former Trinidad and Tobago international. “…to get involved in the communities and in the schools. And this is just the beginning of some of the plans we have for the club.”

It was also revealed that Central FC would visit Couva East Secondary Wednesday 28 November when the school celebrates its 50th anniversary.
