Shiva Boys Hindu College moved to fourth on the standing when they edged St Mary’s College 1-0 in the Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League at Morne Diablo Recreation Ground yesterday.
After a shock 1-4 defeat to Carapichaima at the weekend the south zone League winners in 2016, rebounded with a victory which came after a succession of missed chances that should have reflected a different scoreline. The usually dangerous Quin Rodney was guilty of two early missed chances in the first seven minutes, which had set the pace for an unluckily one-sided affair.
But their blushes were saved by Tyrell Baptiste who found the nets late in the 80th minute to push them to 25 points ahead of San Juan North Secondary.
With one more match to play against St Benedict’s College on Saturday, Shiva could only attain 28 points, providing an appeal against them for receiving a just warning by the SSFL’s Disciplinary Committee for the use of an improperly registered Kierron Mason, by Queen’s Royal College, is held up.
