St Augustine Senior Secondary steamed their way to another victory yesterday, this time rolling over minnows Valencia High School 7-0.

Action was in the East Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) yesterday.

The Green Machine, who have not won the zonal title in nine years, moved closer to their goal with a resounding margin of victory against a Championship Division debutant team that seems destined to be demoted back to the Senior Division next year.

"Gustine" are on 29 points and, with just two more rounds plus a rescheduled game remaining, the Warren Street outfit need one more win and a draw to assure themselves of the East Zone crown they last won in 1995.

Shane "German" Calderon and Devon Maxwell notched two apiece for the current leaders, while Aaron Peters, Shurlan Sorrillo and captain Matthew Ramirez added one each.

St Augustine's nearest rivals are San Juan Secondary who whipped St George's College 5-0 at Bourg Mulatresse. They are currently on 23 points and the only team with a mathematical chane of preventing a St Augustine league win.

In Barataria, pitch-invading substitute players and supporters and a fight brought a premature end to the Hillview College/Barataria Senior Secondary game with about two minutes to go.

According to reports, the score was 5-1 when a fight ensued and bottles were thrown on the pitch in a no-holds-barred encounter marked by tough tackling and off-the-ball strikes.

In another fixture, improving El Dorado romped to a 4-1 win over rivals Arima at home.
