SCARBOROUGH got two goals in the extra-time period to defeat Presentation Chaguanas 2-0 yesterday, at Shaw Park, to advance to semifinal round of the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) “Big 5” competition.

After both teams battled to a goalless draw after 90 minutes of regulation time, Jovan Roberts converted a penalty in the 92nd minute, while Trevon James added another in the 99th. According to the tournament rules, each half lasted 10 minutes instead of 15. Meanwhile, Mucurapo warmed up for Tuesday’s semifinal clash against St Augustine with a 3-1 whipping of dethroned North Zone winners St Anthony’s in a rescheduled North Zone fixture at the St Anthony’s Ground. National Under-20 midfielder Kevon Neaves was the lone goalgetter for the Tigers.

The QRC-Morvant/Laventille fixture was called off after 75 minutes at the QRC ground after the officials were constantly harassed by the Morvant players, who were down to 10 players midway into the second half. The “Green Machine” St Augustine were held to a 1-1 draw by Barataria in an East Zone fixture while Timmy Hernandez netted an 80th minute winner as Vessigny edged hosts Pleasantville 1-0 in a rescheduled South Zone matchup.
