Dwight Ceballo and Garvin Samaroo both found the net three times, as league champions St Anthony’s mauled Maple Leaf International 11-0 in their North Zone Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Coca Cola Zonal Intercol quarterfinal match at Fatima ground yesterday.
The “Westmoorings Tigers” had no sympathy on the Senior Division winners, who will be moving up to the championship division next season. Keane McIvor and Rashard Allen also enjoyed the goal spree as they netted a double each, while Andel Francois scored the other goal.
In the East, defending national champion El Dorado East edged out Trinity East 1-0 compliments of a Shaquille Smith item in the 70th minute at the St Augustine ground.
The other match saw defending zonal champion St Augustine claim a come from behind 4-2 win over Senior Division champion Valencia East, at the San Juan ground. Valencia had “Green Machine” on the ropes early, scoring after just 20 seconds to take a 1-0 lead.
Gustine then levelled the score in the 18th minute, however, seconds later the senior division champions took a 2-1 lead which they held until the second half.
The experienced St Augustine team was able to find the net twice in the second period to come away with the win. El Do and Gustine, the 2009 finalists, will clash in the semifinal on Tuesday.
