The battle for the BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League South Zone title could well be determined by the  Disciplinary Committee.

This after the Disciplinary Committee was mandated by the SSFL Appeals Committee to review the case involving current South Zone table leader, Presentation College and last year’s winner Naparima College.

On September 17, Presentation secured a 3-1 win over Naparima at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. However, Naparima protested claiming a breach of SSFL rules.

Naparima protested Presentation used a player who was suppose to serve a one match suspension after picking up yellow cards in their two previous matches against St Benedict’s College (September 7) and Shiva Boys’ (September 10).

Following the hearing of the Disciplinary Committee which was chaired by its secretary Gerald Elliot, the SSFL, assistant secretary of Administration, it was decided to award Naparima a 3-0 win.

However, Presentation College appealed the outcome and as a result the SSFL Appeals Committee chaired by SSFL president Ewing Davis has mandated that Disciplinary Committee to undertake a totally new hearing as they found the original hearing tainted with bias.

Other inconsistencies in the disciplinary proceedings were also identified by the Appeals Committee. A final decision on the matter is expected to be made on Monday, when the Disciplinary Committee meets again.

Currently, Presentation College (25 points) has a two point lead over  Shiva Boys’ while Naparima has 19 points with only tomorrow’s round of matches left for each team.
