“It doesn’t matter who we meet, it’s just one more hurdle to jump,” said DIRECTV North East Stars forward Sean Fraser following his team’s 3-1 win over Joe Public’s Super League outfit in the semi-final round of the 2010-2011 Toyota Classic on Friday night at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

The Jamaican forward opened the scoring for the Sangre Grande club in the 20th minute while Anthony Wolfe (42nd pen) and Gary Glasgow (77th) got the other items.

In the second semi-final clash at the Malabar venue, Ma Pau SC defeated San Juan Jabloteh 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to reach the Final against North East Stars which will play at the Marvin Lee Stadium from 8pm on Friday 25 February.

It’s the third Final for the Shurland David coached North East Stars this season winning the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield and where defeated finalist in the FA Trophy, both Finals against San Juan Jabloteh.

“It’s a blessing reaching another Final,” continued Fraser.

The Stars forward applauded Joe Public saying, “They showed a lot of character, a lot of energy and fight to the end.”

Meantime adding that his side didn’t play to their full capability, “We didn’t really play the way we wanted.

“But the victory was tremendous for us. What was important is not taking them (Joe Public) for granted.

Head Coach David also expressed mixed feelings following the victory.

“The victory is good, but the way we played is not exactly what we wanted.

“We didn’t play the nice football that we could play but most importantly we got the semi-final victory and it took us to the Final.”

However David has a lot of confidence in his side for Friday’s Final.

“We just need a little more concentration in the way we defend because we face a tougher team in the Final and if we make mistakes, we will be punished.

“But still my guys are really willing and motivated to go out and win this one, because it’s the third Final and I believe everything will work out for us,” he concluded.
