Ma Pau SC celebrated its first trophy on Friday night since turning a professional club in 2008, defeating DIRECTV North East Stars 3-0 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the 2010-2011 Toyota Classic Final at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
The Michael McComie coached side took an early lead when defender Cyd Gray met Leslie Fitzpatrick's corner from the right at the back post and headed in for a 1-0 score in the 13th minute.
But in the 68th minute North East Stars were awarded a penalty which Anthony Wolfe converted powerfully past goalkeeper Clayton Ince a minute later to level the scores 1-1.
Ince pulled brilliant save to deny a powerful freekick by Glenton Wofe in the 68th minute but a foul was called against Ma Pau on the loose ball after a high booth against a Stars player and referee Neil Brizan didn't waste time pointing to the spot.
The scores remained tied 1-1 after regulation time sending the 2010-2011 Toyota Classic Final into kicks from the penalty spot.
North East Stars thought they had a good start on the kicks when goalkeeper Michael Woods pulled off a save against Rennie Britto.
However Wolfe, who scored against Ince during the match failed was denied by the former Walsall "big man" as the scores remained goalless after the first two kicks.
Ince who saved Ma Pau through the quarterfinal and semi-final round on kicks from the penalty spot against Caledonia AIA and San Juan Jabloteh respectively proved too huge in goal for the Stars as Gary Glasgow and Sean Fraser missed the entire target in the second and third kicks.
Meantime Coneal Thomas and Aquil Selby found the back of the net in Ma Pau's second and third kicks. The 3-0 penalty victory was sealed with Shandel Samuel netting the winner in the fourth kick.
W Connection’s Hughtun Hector picked up the Most Goals with five throughout the tournament while Ince was named Player of the Tournament.
Match Play
Eight minutes into Friday’s Final Ince was forced into action on a counter-attack led by Stars’ Fraser who later set Wolfe free towards goal however the Ma Pau goalie was unbeatable pushing the effort behind for a corner.
Ma Pau then took the early 1-0 advantage, when in the 13th minute Gray was left unmarked at the far post to head in goal from former North East player Fitzpatrick's right side corner.
But that didn’t put the brakes on the Sangre Grande based club.
Veteran midfielder Kendall Velox looked dangerous for North East in the 26th and 27th minutes forcing back to back saves against Ince from distance.
Stars then failed to level the scores two minutes into the second period when Fraser's well taken strike from distance was brilliantly gloved out by Ince and the lose ball volleyed high over by Glasgow.
Fraser was involved again when his cheeky flick in the 59th minute played Akiel Guevara above the area and the midfielder tried his luck against Ince who again was too large to beat.
Two minutes later Stars forward Wolfe header towards goal bubbled just wide of Ince's far post as Ma Pau looked more and more vulnerable at the back.
Coach Michael McComie then replaced Fitzpartick with the younger legs of Shane Calderon in the 65th minute.
But in the 68th minute North East Stars won a penalty which Wolfe converted to level the scores 1-1.

Ma Pau's Rennie Britto then struck the side netting in the 74th minute after he was picked out perfectly by Shandel Samuel’s cross from the left.
Britto was wide again a minute later, this time blasting wide in another Ma Pau attack.
Ma Pau then lost experienced midfielder Lyndon Andrews to a direct red card in the 85th minute reducing the McComie coached side to 10-men after a second off the ball confrontation against Stars' Velox.
Ma Pau had the last chance of regulation time to separate the scores but defender Aquil Selby’s glancing header from a corner was miraculously blocked out by goalkeeper Woods.
