It might be short lived, but the National Under-17 women's football team have taken the lead in the Lucky Bakery' Women's Super League football competition.
The national women's youth side moved to 13 points, one more than inactive, previous leaders San Juan Jabloteh (12 points) following an exciting goalless draw with local women's champions Water One Real Dimension on Friday night at Barataria Oval. The game saw end-to-end action at times, but no goals. Real Dimension, who drew a second successive match, are third on 11 points.
Jabloteh, who have won all four matches played, can re-take the lead should they win their match today at the Barataria Oval. But it will be no easy task against a tough Defence Force team trained by Army men's coach Ross Russell.
Defence Force are coming off a 2-1 win over another good team, Trincity nationals. Defence Force have previously proved difficult opponents for the national side who edged them 1-0, and also Real Dimension, who beat them 2-1.
