Juventus whipped Defence Force 2-0 to retain the SW Touring Tobago Invitational Masters Over-40 title at the Courland Sporting Complex, Black Rock on Sunday.

The St John Road, St Augustine team claimed the US$2,000 first prize after strikers Roger Callendar and Kendal Velox found the back of the net.

Callender opened the scoring in the sixth minute, running in from the right side to net his fourth goal of the tournament.

Velox got the second item five minutes into the second half. Callender made inroads on the right flank and crossed to Nigel John who then passed to Velox who beat Defence Force custodian Ian Carter.

Velox was the star in last year's finals, scoring in Juventus' 3-1 win over Upstars.

Defence Force took home the US 1,500 runners-up prize. Calendar was later named the Most Valuable Player of the two-day competition and also collected the Golden Boot Award.

Defence Force were voted the Best Fete Match team. THA Secretary of Labour and Settlements Huey Cadette, who played for 1976 Phoenix, was on hand to distribute the prizes and trophies.

Cadette scored in Phoenix's 3-0 victory over Northside.

In the sem-ifinals earlier in the afternoon, Juventus got past 1976 Pheonix 2-0 with goals by Velox and Keston King, while Defence Force beat Twin islands 4-2 on penalty kicks after the game ended goalless after 30 minutes of regulation play.

Twin Islands advanced to semis after edging Curepe All Stars 5-4 on penalties in a play-off.

Juventus, Defence Force, 1976 Pheonix qualified for the semis after the end of the round-robin group play which began on Saturday and ended Sunday morning.

Defence Force topped group A with 10 points, the same as second placed Juventus. Both teams recorded three wins and a draw.

The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw in the tournament's opening encounter Saturday morning but the soldiers ended the group stage with a superior goal difference. Twin Islands finished third with six points while Curepe All Stars (six points) were the runners-up of Group B.

The annual tournament was sponsored by the THA Division of Tourism and Transportation, NLCB, Lucozade and Red Bull.
