Former champions, 1976 FC Phoenix and Roxborough Lakers' struggle in the Tobago Football Association Premier Division continued after they were both held to drawn results in their respective conference matches at the Speyside recreational ground on Sunday.

In the opening match of the night's doubleheader, Roxborough Lakers was held to a 1-1 draw by Charlotteville Police Youth Club to leave both clubs stuck at the bottom of the seven-team Eastern Conference standings.

Ariel Walcott had given Lakers a 19th-minute lead, but Jerryon Chadband equalised for Charlotteville in the 76th to earn a share of the points which left both clubs on four points, the same as FC Goodwood, fifth on the standings.

Another pair of former champions Sidey's FC and Georgia FC lead the table with 12 points from six and five matches played respectively, two points ahead of Belle Garden SC and Goal City, a former TFA winner as well.

In the Western Conference, Phoenix missed a chance to move into the third spot on the six-club standings following its goalless draw with Black Rock.

The drawn result left Phoenix fourth on the table with seven points from five matches, six behind leaders Carnbee/Mt Pleasant while Eagles FC is second with ten points, followed by Bethel United, a further two points behind.

In the Central Conference, Stokely Vale and Bertille St Clair’s SA are in a two-way tie at the top of the six-club table with ten points each from four and five matches respectively, with Signal Hill United and Leeds United, next with nine points apiece.

Today at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex in Scarborough, Lakers will have a chance to move out of the bottom two when it faces Georgia FC, who can go top with a draw or win from 5.30 pm.

The focus will then shift to the TFA FA trophy final on Friday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet with Stokley Vale and Sidey's FC set to square off for top honours.

This after Quame Mc Dougall of Stokely Vale and Stephon Antoine of Sidey’s FC both scored hat tricks to lead their respective clubs to semifinal wins at the same venue last Saturday night.

In the opening match, Mc Dougall scored in the 25th, 31st and 58th minutes while Stefano Wright added another in the 29th for Stokely Vale to beat Georgia FC 4-2.

For Georgia, J’sean Washington scored a double in the 45+3, a penalty, and in the 90+1 while Deon Thomas got the other 55th.

Sidey’s FC had a much easier time against Golden Lane and ran out 6-1 winners with Antoine scoring in the third, 25th and 70th minutes with Weah Adams (47th), Kyle Davidson (57th) and Pavel Warrick (90+1) the other scorers after Aaron Clarke briefly drew Golden Lane level in the sixth minute from the penalty spot.
