LOWLY 1976 FC Phoenix pushed Sidey’s out of this year’s FA Cup in the Tobago Football Association.
Phoenix who are struggling third from bottom of the league, edged their rivals 2-1 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium on Friday last, on goals from Brent Cruickshank and Akim Baynes. Ryan Gray got the loner for Sidey’s.
The victory now pits Phoenix against the unbeaten FA Cup holders St Clair’s Coaching School in a semi-final game.
Also on Friday at the Dwight Yorke, Charlotteville Unifiers stomped Bethel United out of the FA Cup with a 3-0 beating.
Kervin McKenna blasted in two goals while Klaydon Christmas got the other.
And in another game in the FA, a goal by Delon Dennis was enough to give Lambeau a 1-0 ictory over Georgia and into a quarter-final tie against Youth Stars United.
Meanwhile, Taylor’s Rentals Goal City shook off their FA Cup defeat by Bethel to squeak out a 1-0 Premier Division victory over Roxborough Lakers on a goal by prolific Akini Ferguson.
But despite Klaydon Christmas keeping up his scoring form, Stokely Vale dumped Charlotteville Unifiers 3-2 at their Charlotteville ground.
Akeilon Murphy, Kurt Baynes and Runako Jack scored one goal each for the winners while Kyson Lewis got the second for Unifiers.
And Mason Hall USSS shut out Black Rock 3-0 to keep their steady mid-table position in the Premier Division.Kevon Baker, Danny Pantion and Daniel Eastman were the goal scorers.
