Harlem Strikers took advantage of defeats for Matura Reunited and Petit Valley/Diego Martin United (PVDM) to jump to the top of the Tier Two standings in the Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League (TTPFL).

On Sunday, Strikers came from a goal down to beat previous leaders MIC Matura Reunited 4-2, while second-placed PVDM were upset 3-2 by Guaya United.

Matura took the lead in the first half through Shackiel Henry (36th minute). But in the second half, Moses Jaikaran levelled the scores in the 52nd minute. Kareem Baptiste then put Strikers 2-1 up three minutes later, only for Henry to draw Matura level with his second goal in the 61st minute. But Jaikaran responded again for Strikers with a 70th minute strike from the penalty spot to make it 3-2 and an own goal by Delaney Zamore in the 80th snuffed out any chance of another recovery by Matura. They have now dropped to second on goal difference, both Harlem Strikers and Matura Reunited having 13 points.

PVDM Utd are a point behind, having missed the chance to take the lead themselves after they were edged out by Guaya.

PVDM found themselves trailing from as early as the eighth minute when Omari Campbell found the net. And the 1-0 scoreline didn’t change until the 70th minute when Akeel Paul put Guaya 2-0 ahead. PVDM then pulled a goal back six minutes later through Josiah Alleyne, only for Daniel Ferrier to restore Guaya’s two-goal advantage in the 84th minute. Kiron Manswell got a consolation item for PVDM in the 90th minute. Guaya are now sixth.

In other matches, San Fernando Giants jumped from sixth to fourth after beating T&T Police Force (previously fourth) 2-0; Central Soccer World edged Defence (previously fifth) 1-0; University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) blanked Club Sando 6-0; RSSR beat RC Eagles 2-1 and Bethel SC edged Miscellaneous Laventille United 2-1.
