Winston-Salem, North Carolina, January 22nd, 2009 - Tasha St. Louis has signed a contract with Sunnana SK in the Sweden Women’s premier division (Damallsvenskan).
This will be St. Louis’ first European contract. She played in the United States Women’s Pro League in 2004 with the New Jersey Wildcats. She is better known, however, in her home country. She was T&T’s 2002 Woman Footballer of the Year and the Caribbean Football Union MVP of Gold Cup Qualifiers. St. Louis has played with the Senior National Team since 2000. "I'm real excited to play in Sweden and get to see the scene in European football. I was able to train in the cold and snow when I was there last month so I am prepared for the conditions,” she said.
Heather MacKenzie of MLF Sports in the U.S. said, "The women's league in Sweden is top rate. Tasha will be exposed to some of the best women players as well as some of the best coaches. I am thrilled to have this result with the first woman player that I have ever worked with. Tasha will represent Trinidad and Tobago proudly and hopefully make an impact on the team and the league."
MLF Sports will continue to update St. Louis’ development throughout her first season with Sunnana SK. For additional information on Tasha St. Louis or MLF Sports, contact Anjani Salonen or visit www.mlfsports.com.
