The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) issued a statement yesterday condemning what it described as “the unacceptable behavior displayed by some members of the crowd” during Friday night’s Concacaf U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

The T&T women lost 0-1 to Honduras in the third and final round-robin game but managed to advance to the CONCACAF W Under-17 Championship by means of a superior goal difference.

The statement read: “We are deeply disappointed that emotions in the stands escalated to the point where match officials, including Guatemalan referee Glenda Lopez and her team, were subjected to objects being thrown at them as they attempted to exit the field.,” the TTFA stated, “ Such actions have no place in football, and we unequivocally denounce any behavior that compromises the safety and integrity of the game.”
