Fifa instructors, Anna Signeul and Andrea Rodebaugh are backing T&T to beat Korea DPR in its ‘do or die’ match today at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, from 6 pm. Signeul, a former Swedish national footballer and the current head coach of the Scottish Women’s football programme and Rodebaugh a former Mexican national player and U-20 coach were the facilitators of a recently concluded 10-day Fifa/Concacaf Women’s Football Coaching course held from September 1-10 at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.
“What I saw in that team was spirit and that’s what you need in football,” she began. “It’s not just to play a beautiful game and pass the ball, if you want to win on this level, you have to have the passion, you have to play with your heart and that’s what these players do.”
Rodebaugh, who facilitated the course last year as well, said the Soca Princessess can win, once they take advantage of their opportunities. “I think you can win,” said Rodebaugh. “ There are moments in a game that make the game. On any given day, any given team can win a game. “I like the team, I think you have a style and I think the players are doing what they are asked to do and that’s why they were so successful in their first game, they didn’t win the second but the group is open.”
