The Alcorn State University women's soccer program will be represented in the CONCACAF U20 World Cup Qualifiers as sophomore defender Shalisha King was named to Trinidad & Tobago's squad.
King is a native of San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago and was born in Port of Spain where she attended St. Augustine Secondary School.
"Congrats to team captain Shalisha King on being selected to the Trinidad and Tobago National U20 team. This is a testament to her hard work and commitment to excellence," said Alcorn women's soccer head coach Junior Noel. "Alcorn athletics and Alcorn soccer are proud of the people we produce, we strive to produce global leaders. I have no doubt that Shalisha would represent the 'Brave' family on the international stage with distinction."
Last season, King was a rock on the defensive side of the field for the Lady Braves, logging 1,148 minutes of action over 13 starts with 12 of those being complete game efforts.
There will be 16 teams in the tournament while Trinidad & Tobago will be a part of Group F which includes Haiti, Panama and the Cayman Islands.
The tournament will take place in the Dominican Republic from February 22 to March 8 with the club getting together for camp February 10 through 20.
The first match will be against Panama at Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic on February 23.
