T&TEC will go after a third title in the Southern Football Association this season when it faces Petrotrin Palo Seco in the League Cup final at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 8 pm tonight.

The match will be the second of the double-header as T&TEC’s Digicel Pro League will look to maintain its table lead when it faces Police from 6 pm. The “Electricity Boys” of the SFA booked a spot in tonight’s final after a 2-2 draw with Penal All Stars in their semifinal second-leg at Irwin Park Savannah, Siparia on Sunday to advance 5-2 on aggregate.

Darryl Edwards scored both goals for T&TEC while Daniel Diaz and Edward Parson were on target for Penal All Stars, who had only themselves to blame from failing to get to the final. When both teams met in the first-leg semifinal on Friday, the match ended 1-1.

However, T&TEC was handed a 3-0 win by the SFA Disciplinary Committee after All Stars used an unregistered player in the match. So far this season, the “Electricity Boys,” have won the SFA Second Division title and will campaign in the Petrotrin Super League next season while they also won the Executive Cup, beating “Big-Four” champion, OJ Soldado All Stars, 1-0 in the final last month.

Petrotrin Palo Seco was also gifted a spot in the final after Diamond United was thrown out of the competition by the Disciplinary Committee. Diamond United had beaten Petrotrin Palo Seco 6-1 and 2-1 for an 8-2 aggregate win and a place in the League Cup final at Palo Seco.

However, Petrotrin Palo Seco protested the use of former national Under-20 player Juma Clarenece was not legal as the player was not transferred from his previous club in Turkey. The protest was upheld by the SFA’s Disciplinary Committee which handed Petrotrin Palo Seco a place in the final.
