TODAY will see the beginning of the Central Football Association (CFA) Premier League, and proceedings are scheduled to take place at the Madras Recreation Ground, Cunupia.

The Coosal’s Group of Companies will be sponsoring today’s events — a TT Women League Football (WoLF) contest between Central FC and Malabar FC at 3 pm, the parade of CFA teams at 5 pm, and a Premier League match an hour later featuring reigning champions Enterprise Youths FC and Coosal’s Las Lomas United.

CFA president Brian Layne praised the Coosal’s Group for giving back to the community by fully sponsoring today’s opening as well as Las Lomas United.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the corporate citizens for their continued sponsorship of the CFA competitions with over $80,000 in prizes and sponsorship — Caribbean Facilities Corporation Limited (Premier League competition), Ramsingh Sports World (FA Cup competition), Sanitank Limited (League Cup competition), PLIPDECO (CFA Youth Football competition) and Coosal’s Group of Companies (opening ceremony).

A total of 15 teams will be featuring in the Premier League — Eagles United, Enterprise Youths FC, Cunupia FC, Edinburgh 500, Leeds FC, Harlem Strikers, Coosal’s Las Lomas United, Perseverance United, Cap Off Youths, Caroni Tabaquite, Flamengo FC, Fire Services, Xtrafoods Chaguanas FC, TT Highlanders FC and Perseverance Ball Runners.

The winners will have the chance to represent CFA at the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) Champions of Champions tournament early next year.

The League competition will comprise two groups with the teams placing in the first three from each group advancing to a Big Six competition to determine the winner of the League.

The CFA will also be hosting its Under-15 and Under-17 competitions during the midterm holiday and interested clubs are asked to contact the general secretary Stephen Bartholomew at 678-3878 or 290-3505, or via e-mail at bartholomewstephen @gmail.com.
