Eagles United, a new club, have taken the early lead in the Central Football Association (CFA) Premier League football competition after crushing St Mary's United 7-2 in their opening match, and then beating the well-regarded Leeds United 2-1.

Eagles now lead on goal-average over the also unbeaten Caroni Connection, who have scored victories over Couva Sports and St Marys United.

Eagles of Enterprise village, Chaguanas, built a four-goal lead through Glenwell John (eighth and 12th minutes) and Stephen Whiteman (25th and 40th) before Kevon Wilson (55th) scored for St Mary's United.

Dave Charles pushed Eagles further ahead at 5-1 in the 65th, before Whiteman completed his hat-trick in the 69th, and Seion Regis got another for the winners in the 70th minute. Jameale Chevalier got a second goal for the losers in 71st.

In their second match, Eagles United fell behind in the 19th minute after National Under-23 striker Trent Lougheed scored for Leeds.

But, they rallied to be level at 1-1 at the half through Dale Codogan's 23rd minute goal, and and Machel James won all three points with his winning goal in the 77th minute.
