After scoring the winning goal for the No. 13 UCF men's soccer team against Marshall on Saturday night, midfielder Kevan George has been named the Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to end his collegiate regular season. After a scoreless first half by both squads, freshman Leonardo Alaya found George in the corner and booted a 40-yard shot that would ultimately be the game's deciding factor.
This was the first goal of the season for the Trinidad native and it happened on a night in which all the seniors were honored in front of a crowd of 600 people.
The victory marked the first time in history the Knights finished with back-to-back 10-win seasons since joining Conference USA. The team finished with a 10-4-3 record, ranking them third overall in the league standings.
The Knights will travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the C-USA Championship, set to take place Nov. 9-13.
