After helping the Boston University men's soccer team claim a shutout win against Harvard and netting the equalizer against Bucknell, senior Jeroen Blugh has been named the Patriot League Corvias Defender of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Despite being outshot by Harvard, 15-14, he and the backline kept the Crimson off the board for their first shutout victory over the local rival since 2005. In Sunday's Patriot League opener with Bucknell, Blugh scored the equalizing goal in the 24th minute with a high header off a corner kick and played all 110 minutes in the 1-1 draw.
The PL weekly award marks the first for the Trinidad native and fifth overall for the Terriers this year. Junior Felix De Bona, junior David Asbjornsson, sophomore Anthony Viteri and freshman T.J. Butzke were all previously recognized.
