West Texas A&M freshmen Khadidra Debesette’s school record performance on the pitch has earned her Lone Star Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer.
Debesette, a native of Rousillac, Trinidad & Tobago, earned her first LSC weekly award by scoring five goals over the week and leading the Lady Buffs to a 2-1 record.
Debesette’s school record arrived when she became the first WT women’s soccer player to score four goals in match against Texas A&M-International on Monday.
On Sept. 23, Debesette scored the game-winner in the 38th minute against LSC rival Eastern New Mexico. In five career matches Debesette has six career goals, two of which are game-winners and leads the team in points (12).
“I think that anytime you score four goals in a match you should be honored in some way,” head coach Chad Webb said. “I hope that she continues to grow and score more goals for us.”
The Lady Buffs return to action Friday, visiting No. 6 Angelo State at 7 p.m. in San Angelo.
