Syracuse senior forward Kyle Hall (Toronto, Ontario) was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I First Team on Thursday, Oct. 30. Hall is the first Orange men’s soccer player since Jeff Evans and Ryan Hickey in 2004 to earn academic all-district honors.
Outside of soccer, Hall is majoring in finance and was one of 30 nominees for the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for men’s soccer (Most Outstanding Student-Athlete). He was an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar in 2007-08 and the recipient of the African-Latino-Asian-Native American (ALANA) Award last spring. The ALANA Award is presented by the Syracuse Office of Multicultural Affairs to outstanding minority leaders on campus.
Hall is also a two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and a four-time member of both the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Whitman School of Management Dean's List.
His athletic accomplishments include listing second on the team in scoring this year (11 points). He has four goals and three assists. Two of Hall’s tallies came in consecutive wins against UNC-Wilmington and Florida Gulf Coast at the Mayor’s Cup in September. For his efforts, he was selected at the tournament’s Offensive MVP.
Hall has played in 50 games in his Orange career. He has 34 points, including 13 goals.
Hall was joined on the all-district first team by Zack Simmons (Massachusetts), Chris Nacca (Marist), Yan Klukowski (Central Connecticut State), Dori Arad (Connecticut), Daniel Kerley (Colgate), Connor Tobin (Vermont), Dan Schultz (Boston University), Karl Schilling (Connecticut), Bryan Connolly (Army) and Patrick Figueiredo (Adelphi).
Hall and his teammates will close out the 2008 campaign at home on Saturday, Nov. 1 when they host #20/21 Louisville. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
